Stow damp items, keep dry things dry. Aloha Collection is a fast growing lifestyle brand that introduced the world to the Original Splash-Proof bags for the beach, yoga, travel and daily life. I developed the logo, identity, and initial graphic styles that launched Aloha Collection’s now iconic line of travel bags and accessories.
From both a cultural and commercial perspective “Aloha” is one of the most recognized words in the world — printed on t-shirts, stamped on souvenirs, and used across countless brands. My goal was to create a wordmark that stood out in a saturated landscape but still captured the warmth, welcome, and cultural depth of its native Hawaiian meaning — while also aligning with a chic, global sense of style, fashion, and travel.
I created the logo, defined their typographic palette, designed key brand elements such as hang tags and feature lockups, and refined copy and messaging to communicate core product values.
The logo is a visual onomatopoeia. The enlarged O embraced by the arm of the L graphically expresses and emphasizes the heartfelt nature of the greeting, “Aloooha!” while the letter weights and supporting anchor are a nod to the mariner stripe aesthetic used in both luxury fashion and travel.
Aloha Collection is now a multimillion-dollar brand with retail stores in Hawaii, California, and at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
